Who we are

Sindan is a company producing pharmaceutical products (injectable and oral products) for oncological treatments, founded in 1991, on the structure of the research and production section of the Bucharest Oncological Institute. In 2000, Sindan was certified according to Good Manufacturing Practice quality standards and currently delivers products to over 75 countries.

In March 2006, the Icelandic group Actavis bought the Sindan company and in 2016, Teva acquired the generics division (Actavis Generics) of the global manufacturer Allergan (from this year Sindan became part of the Teva group). Following the global acquisition, Teva's portfolio in Romania expanded by taking over the factory of oncology drugs intended for both domestic consumption and export.

Currently, Teva covers the treatment needs of hundreds of thousands of patients in Romania with an extensive portfolio of generic, innovative, OTC and cosmetic drugs, intended for conditions in the following therapeutic areas: Neurology, Psychiatry, Hematology, Respiratory Diseases, Oncology, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Pain, Endocrinology.

In the medium and long term, Teva Romania aims to remain a company with an extensive and diversified portfolio, which will respond, including, to some currently unmet therapeutic needs, through the new products to be launched.

The opportunity

As a Head of Site Engineering , you will lead a professional Engineering team and ensure availability, functionality and reliability of production equipment, facilities and utilities enabling current and future production flow in a safe, quality and cost-effective manner.

How you’ll spend your day

• Ensure installations and changes to equipment and systems are carried out, qualified, and documented according to approved protocols, change control procedures and in compliance with relevant cGMP and corporate requirements.

• Build a site Master Plan (5 years) that provides a roadmap for required facility upgrades and investments, including rationale, ROI, etc., in order to ensure business continuity aligned with quality & EHS requirements and with the global strategy.

• Initiate and lead introduction of new assets, equipment and systems that will contribute to the business strategic direction, in accordance with approved change control procedures.

• Provide necessary guidance to ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations and requirements regarding Quality and EHS in the scope of Engineering.

• Drive Continuous Improvement to meet world class manufacturing standards using Operational Excellence principles while continuously developing Engineering best practices.

• Run an efficient and effective Engineering activity through managing the Engineering site budget and resources.

• Lead a Professional Engineering Team Identify, develop and retain qualified people to provide Engineering and Maintenance services.

• Act as an influential functional expert within the site leadership team. Influence decision making and take an active role in promoting cross-site initiatives, teamwork and collaboration across site functions.

• Implement global best practices and actively share knowledge and lessons learned to contribute and support a high professional level of engineering globally.

• Serve as the main Teva representative in communication with suppliers, subcontractors and planning firms regarding the site’s assets, equipment, systems and maintenance services. Supervise their activity to ensure efficient and effective work and to ensure Teva’s business interests and global agreements and standards are well kept.

Your experience and qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Facility/ Pharmaceutical/Biochemical/Process)

• Proven experience in maintenance in a relevant industrial production environment

• Proven project management experience

• Proven knowledge and experience of chemical and pharmaceutical production and packaging processes and equipment

• Working knowledge of GEP (Good Engineering Practices)

• Knowledge of facility and utility systems

• Knowledge of production environment and product types

• Knowledge of TAPI / Teva pharma key technologies – nice to have

• Basic working knowledge of process controls

• Good understanding of environment, health and safety (EHS)

• Advanced knowledge of OPEX principles and tools

• Ability to interpret and localize specifications and standards

• Ability to manage Capital and Operational expenses

• Knowledge of the current pharmaceutical, regulatory and technology trends

• Financial understanding

• Knowledge of cGMP, EH&S and applicable local regulations

• Oral and written fluency in English and Romanian
