Location of the role

This role will be based in our European HQ in Amsterdam. The EU HQ will move to Haarlem in 2024.

Some international travel involved (approx. twice a year)

The opportunity

As the Legal Counsel EU Commercial, you'll be the go-to person for legal matters in Teva's Innovative Medicines & Marketing Franchise. Your role is crucial in making sure Teva's Pivot to Growth strategy succeeds across all EU Commercial Regional functions. You'll be supporting various departments like Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Communications, and Government Affairs with vital legal advice. Essentially, you'll be the legal backbone, ensuring Teva stays ahead in delivering innovative healthcare solutions in Europe.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Draft and negotiate various commercial contracts (including service agreements, advertising agency agreements, market research agreements, grants & donations, etc.);

  • Support projects in the field of digital marketing and social media;

  • Provide legal support and advice on all activities relating to key products & therapeutic areas (in particular regional marketing and medical activities) to ensure compliance with applicable laws and EU Regulations as well as Teva policies and procedures;

  • Provide legal guidance on (non-)promotional materials and pro-actively identify risks or possibilities in the area of unfair competition;

  • As an active member of the brand teams, proactively identify potential legal risks and assist in implementing strategies to minimize those risks;

  • Responsible for administration tasks, for example update policies covering contracts & promotional activities;

  • Assist in establishing, reviewing and training management and key personnel on relevant policies;

  • Keep up to date with emerging legal trends in the EU region;

  • Contribute and advice on building and designing best legal practices and processes in the innovative area.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Law degree (Master) in one EU jurisdiction

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the legal practice as in house counsel or in private practice in a top-tier law firm

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

  • Proactive and positive attitude and strong drive to achieve results

  • Excellent team player who can work effectively across cultures and skill levels

  • Experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple projects simultaneously

  • Hands-on and flexible

  • Being able to connect the legal and business perspective
