How you’ll spend your day

  • To adhere to the global safety policy manuals, reports and statistical data, have and implement the same effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations and company requirements. Track and regularly report the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives to Site Head.

  • Maintain the facility EHS compliance records.

  • Advise and assist the Site Head and other SLTs concerned in planning, organizing, controlling and maintaining activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for work including setting objectives.

  • Implement Organization's Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Procedures and develop local work procedures related to EHS to comply with legal obligations and organization requirements.

  • Carry out detailed Hazop studies for new processes and scale ups.

  • Identify engineering controls and ensure implementation of safety during commencement of production batches.

  • Manage plant modifications / projects through a change management system which includes pre and post safety audits.

  • Liason with the Global EHS management for updation and implementation with respect to global policies and guidance's at site.

  • To coordinate Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) committee meetings and ensure the compliance of decisions taken on its behalf.

  • Planning, scheduling and ensuring implementation of safety inspections and audits of the facility.

  • To adhere to all statutory requirements related to Safety & Environment and ensure compliances are done accordingly.

  • To co-champion in water reduction programmes along with the Engineering and Production.

  • To maintain zero liquid discharge facility management.

  • To ensure that there is no soil and under ground water contamination due to leakages in to the land.

  • To co-ordinate inspection/examination of lifting machinery, hoists and lifts chains ropes and lifting tackles, mobile crane and pressure vessels by the competent person.

  • To conduct fire demonstration and mock drill to the fire fighting and emergency operations skills to promote and maintain interest among employees.

  • To design and conduct training programs as per the training calendar in co- ordination with the HR department.

  • To conduct hygiene survey to identify conditions and factors affecting the Health and Safety of individuals.

  • Ensure the compliance of fire, safety and environment related to statutory / regulatory norms.

  • To ensure the contractor safety compliance.

  • To maintain the site "Zero Incident, Zero Injuries and Zero release" goal.

  • To propose systems to improve safety compliance among employees and contractors.

  • To support the projects in risk assessments, safety reviews and design stages, before commencing the operations.

  • To support the site in Environment, Health and Safety evaluations of capex projects.

  • Suggest and implement waste reduction and emission control measures.

  • To improve health of employees from the dust exposures through effective dust control management.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Total years of Industrial Experience – 15+ years.

  • Master's degree in occupational health & safety or,

  • Master's degree Industrial Hygiene & Safety or,

  • Master's degree Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation

Skills and specific knowledge required

  • Identifies applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems

  • Manage professionals and/or junior managers.

  • Accountability for the entire EHS function at site

  • Provides leadership / Guidance / Coaching to managers, supervisors and/or professional staff .

  • Is accountable for the performance and results of the unit.

  • Thorough understanding of statutory requirements related to Safety & Environment

  • Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities.

  • Controls resources and policy formation in area of responsibility

  • Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives.
